Activities:
Types of placements include education, social services, youth and campus ministry, healthcare, legal aid, community organizing and marketing/PR. Amate House has a network of over 50 nonprofits and seeks to place volunteers in organizations that are a good fit. Amate House fosters transformations, both for the young adult fellows and the communities in which they serve.
Commitment:
11 months, early August to mid-June
Overview:
Fellows dedicate a year of their lives to serving under-resourced, low-income communities throughout Chicago in social justice and leadership development. Amate House has a serious commitment not only to the work of service, but also to life in intentional community with fellow volunteers.
