Site Description:
Located in Wheeling, WV, Grow Ohio Valley strives to create a “robust and sustainable local food system, built by and for the community.” While in Wheeling, students will learn about the intricacies of the Grow Ohio Valley food network, the complexities of food justice, environmental sustainability, and sustainable, small-scale agriculture. Hands-on service work includes gardening, urban farming, and other local services as needed. Additional community connections are made with House of Hagar, a Catholic worker site, the Mother Jones house, a self-healing community center for the arts, and the Youth Services System.
