OVERVIEW: Throughout Western Alaska, KNOM is a source of information, inspiration, and companionship, striving to uplift, engage, inspire, inform, and entertain the listeners of Western Alaska. KNOM values being a friend and companion, respectful service, and Catholic ideals. All volunteer fellows gain invaluable experience in live, on-air radio: whether through announcing music, reporting on breaking news, hosting current-affairs talk shows, or covering the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. From Nome, they often fly to remote villages to cover traditional festivals and events.
