Transformation Ministries

FOCUS: We seek to transform the hearts and minds of youth and their families while connecting others to the city in a positive way.

ACTIVITIES: Typical activities that students can engage in include: City Light Kids (CLK) is an after-school program for students in kindergarten through 5th grade. The vision of this program is to see students grow into holistic wellness through academic empowerment, life skills training, spiritual development, and mentoring. Iron Sharpens Iron (ISI) is a mentoring and holistic leadership development program for students in 6th-12th grade. The vision of this program is to see the youth leaders of the South Bend community become positive influences who challenge, encourage, and sharpen their peers, family, and their community. Greater Impact is a business that seeks to mentor youth through meaningful work. We currently provide lawn care and screen printing services.

HOURS: Typical office hours are 9am-5pm on weekdays. Programming occurs each afternoon/evening Monday-Thursday during the school year.

REQUIREMENTS: To be a CLK or ISI mentor, a student must apply (links on our website), interview, and attend training. To be an ISI tutor or be on a food team, a student can simply fill out the short volunteer form on our website.

PLACEMENTS: This would depend on the capacity in which the students are serving. We could accommodate about 12–15 tutors. Food teams typically consist of about 4 people.
