David Cramer is the Communications Assistant Program Director for the Institute for Social Concerns. He is the primary storyteller for the institute, working with the communications team to amplify the work of the institute and its impact in communities near and far.

Prior to joining the institute, David spent over a decade in higher education and academic publishing, most recently as the managing editor at the Institute of Mennonite Studies at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Elkhart, Indiana, where he also taught courses in theology and ethics. An ordained minister in the Mennonite Church USA, he additionally spent nearly a decade as pastor at Keller Park Church in South Bend. 

David holds a Ph.D. in theology and ethics from Baylor University, where his research focused on the legacy of the social gospel movement. He also received an M.Div. and M.A. in philosophy of religion from Trinity International University and a B.A. in philosophy and biblical studies from Bethel University, Indiana. The coauthor of A Field Guide to Christian Nonviolence, David has had his writing published in The Christian Century, Sojourners, Anabaptist World, The South Bend Tribune, and elsewhere. 

David lives on the St. Joseph River in South Bend with his spouse, Andrea; their two children, Wesley and Liza; and their dog, Stanley.
