Are you passionate about justice and the common good?

Are you creative, energetic, and ambitious?

Then this select opportunity may be for you!

The Institute for Social Concerns (SOCO) is seeking applicants for Genesis, an exceptional cohort of ten dynamic, creative, and motivated students who collaboratively develop initiatives that support, extend, and deepen the work of SOCO across campus.

Students selected for this academic year-long program will receive $1,200.

What is Genesis?

Genesis leaders are passionate about the work of SOCO and seek to invite others to share in this mission. Genesis will be empowered to develop networks across academic units, dormitory communities, and beyond, that invite peers into this work through signature events and programming. In addition, students will create awareness, increase visibility, and make it easier for Notre Dame students to engage in SOCO offerings. This work will involve design opportunities for students to connect with key themes and guests, create pop-up events, curate opportunities in the South Bend and regional community, and contribute to SOCO communications and social media material.

Genesis leaders will receive a $600 stipend each semester – responsibilities are estimated at 5-6 hours per week.

Genesis Expectations

  • Attend a ½ day team orientation on Saturday, September 6, 2025 in 233 Geddes Hall.
  • Attend a weekly one hour team meeting. The weekly meeting time will be determined with the Genesis team but will be outside class hours.
  • Ideate, develop, and run four signature justice programs/events every year.
  • Inform, develop, and implement an outreach program to create/increase awareness of SOCO programs and increase student intake.
