Labor Café: April 2025

The Labor Café next meets on Friday, April 25, 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Geddes Hall Coffee House.

With so much happening in the worlds of work, economic policy, migration, and politics right now, it’s hard to keep track and focus on a single topic. Accordingly, this Labor Café will feature “open mic” for anyone who attends — bring your ideas, queries, concerns, dreams, and plans for engaging labor questions this summer. There are no readings for this session, but feel free to bring a piece to share with the group! As always, everyone is welcome, and all opinions are entertained.

The Labor Café convenes the Notre Dame community for casual conversation on contemporary questions about work, workers, and workplaces. What rights and protections should those who work for others have? What’s the proper role for government in the economy? How should we address enduring problems of inequality, poverty, and lack of opportunity? And what does Catholic social tradition have to say about these labor questions? Participants choose the concrete topics, all people are welcome, and all opinions are entertained.
