Monica Caro, M.A., J.D.
Director of Strategy
Monica Caro serves the Institute for Social Concerns as director of strategy, supporting the executive director with administration, planning, and stewardship. Monica previously served the Nanovic Institute for European Studies and the Law School’s international and graduate programs.
She has been commended at the University with the Presidential Values Award (2013) and a Team Irish Award (2022). Her work was also recognized by the Catholic University in Ružomberok, Slovakia, with a commemorative medal in 2020 “for initiating and managing the program of education of leaders of Catholic Universities in Central Europe, and for long-term cooperation and international support for the Catholic University in Ružomberok.”
Prior to joining the University, Monica practiced law in the US federal courts, clerking for Daniel A. Manion on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and for Paul V. Gadola on the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
An alumna of the University of Notre Dame, she went on to receive an M.A. in philosophy from the University of Texas at Austin and a J.D. in the inaugural class of Ave Maria School of Law in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
