St. Anthony Foundation has been serving the most vulnerable in our community for 75 years with dignity, compassion, and gratitude. Founded in the spirit of providing hope and hospitality, St. Anthony’s has become a vital lifeline for thousands of individuals and families experiencing poverty, homelessness, and hardship in San Francisco. Through programs that include daily meals, clothing, medical care, addiction recovery services, workforce development, and opportunities for community connection, the Foundation not only addresses urgent needs but also empowers people to rebuild their lives with respect and resilience. Student Role
Free Clothing Program: Support guests in our free “store” find clothing that meets their needs, assists guests with checking in and out, maintain a clean store environment, sort and process donations to ensure they meet quality standards to honor our guests’ dignity, etc. Tenderloin Technology Lab: This position involves direct customer service with guests: setting a welcoming, respectful tone, ensuring a positive Tech Lab experience for guests, following guidelines and adhering to policies, while also helping to create a harmonious and pleasant environment. Additionally, volunteers will work 1-on-1 with guests to answer technical related questions and help overcome computer related anxiety. This will range from problems they encounter navigating the computer to writing a resume. Dining Room/Guest Services: Support with preparation, serving, and cleaning to ensure our Dining Room guests are served with dignity. May support with emergency clothing runs for guests who don’t have adequate clothing, help host guest facing events like BINGO, etc. Volunteer Services & Special Projects: Support our Volunteer Services Department with volunteer recruitment, email outreach, social media posts, administrative work and strategic planning.
Work Schedule
M-F 8:00 AM -4:30 PM
Orientation
Training would consist of going over St. Anthony’s history and Franciscan values, programs and services, and reviewing policies and procedures. Students would also meet staff they will be working with.
Housing Information
Students will stay at a nearby University or Airbnb and take public transportation to and from their site.
