Description
Bethany House proudly provides temporary housing, assistance and support to women and children in Rochester, NY afflicted with homelessness and instability from domestic violence, incarceration, addiction, mental health, physical illness, or poverty. We promote peace, equity, and compassion through the dignity of persons, solidarity of community and inclusivity of all. Our services are FREE and open to women in the community. We do not restrict by age, race, income, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
Student Role
Students will support guests of Bethany House through acts of service, including but not limited to sorting donations, assisting food pantry, assembling hygiene bags, setting up and cleaning rooms, cooking meals, facilitating group activities and providing emotional support.
Work Schedule
Hours of operations are 24/7 at Bethany House with day, evening, night and weekend shifts. Students will be asked to work a combination of chosen and assigned shifts to both serve the house and their interests.
Orientation
Orientation will be facilitated by House Manager and Executive Director to discuss day-to-day operations, student expectations, transportation, etc.
Housing Information
Students will be provided a room onsite with Bethany House Live-In staff adjacent. Accommodation are on a separate floor from guests. Live-in staff and students will have a shared bathroom and kitchenette, separate from guests. Students will also have full access to the laundry room, kitchen, dining room and living room shared with guests.

We appreciate receiving students who are (or are seeking to increase) independence and responsibility. We also appreciate students who can assist us in administrative tasks, technological and social media especially.
Start And End Dates
Eight consecutive weeks between May 17 and July 31, 2026.
