Maria Sedmak is an artist, a teacher and a life-counselor. She is currently teaching and giving workshops at the Institute for Social Concerns at the University of Notre Dame as well as in Austria.
Sedmak’s work is deeply influenced by the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung, especially his concepts of personality development, personality type, archetypes, symbols, and the unconscious, which is accessible through dreams. Seeing herself as a “Seelsorgerin,” a “soul-carer,” it always has been her greatest interest to understand people in their differences and their commonalities and help them to grow in their spiritual and personal development. As a MBTI facilitator, Sedmak offers insights in Jung’s theory of personality type, including through her own artwork.
Sedmak received her master’s degrees in theology at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, her pedagogic training at the Teacher Training College in Linz, Austria, and her counseling degrees in psychology and psychotherapy in Innsbruck and Seekirchen, Austria.
