Description
The Society for the Rehabilitation of Crippled Children (SRCC) CASE Special Education Therapy Dept caters to educational needs of children with differential learning needs. We take children from age 8 to 18 years of age who have a learning disability, ADHD, mild autism, cerebral palsy and even those who are hard of hearing. We follow the State Board Curriculum or the Open Board Curriculum with our children. Children are exposed to art, music, yoga, dramatics, dance and movement, physical activity, pottery, cooking, baking, and many other skills. We aim to instill in our children a sense of self-worth and uniqueness.
Student Role
Students will be required to make teaching aids, mind maps, and audio books for our children to help them enhance their learning. They will also have to mentor children as well to teach them Spoken English. They will have to start a Reading club where they will read stories to children through which they have to generate interest in reading as well and start a discussion to help build their thinking skills. The students will have to help plan and coordinate games to improve the children’s motor coordination. They will also help to develop social story books as a means of teaching aids for children with Autism. The students will be required to assist the Counselors while preparing material for and conducting various workshops for the children. For students interested in healthcare, there are opportunities to work with our Occupational Therapist and to learn from the services offered in our hospital.
Work Schedule
The students will work from 9am to 4pm from Monday to Friday. They will have both Saturday and Sunday off.
Orientation
The students will be welcomed and given information about our organization. They will be given a brief about the children’s abilities and areas of weaknesses that they can expect when they interact with them. They will be informed of what is expected from them, details of the projects to be done and their contact person for all coordination. We will also address any concerns they may have.
Housing Information
Accommodation will be in a nearby hotel where some of the meals will be provided each day; more details will be known closer to the actual month when they arrive.
