Description

Forum Connemara is a community development organisation based in the Connemara region of County Galway in Ireland. It works to promote social inclusion, support local enterprise, and improve the quality of life for people living in its area. The organisation delivers a wide range of programmes and services to support social inclusion, rural development and protection of biodiversity in the locality. Forum Connemara aims to empower individuals and communities to reach their potential, strengthen local networks, and ensure that everyone has access to opportunities for education, wellbeing, and participation in community life.

Student Role

Students will gain hands-on experience across various areas of the organisation, such as supporting services for older people, assisting in the community café with lunch clubs, preparing and delivering Meals on Wheels, and assisting summer camps for children and young people. The students will work as part of a team and will be supported by core staff in their work.

Work Schedule

Students will work a maximum of 35 hours per week. The work week usually runs from Monday to Friday, but if occasional weekend hours are needed, time off will be given afterwards. The normal start time is 8 a.m.; however, if students are scheduled to work later in the evening (up to 9 p.m. at the latest), their start time will be adjusted accordingly.

Orientation

I’m happy to attend the pre-arrival zoom meetings where I will outline the approximate timetable and what will be expected of them. They will have an opportunity to ask questions at this. When they arrive on site, our staff will give them their timetable for the week ahead. They will introduce them and explain what they are expected to do. They will always be supported by core FORUM Connemara staff.
