Monalisa
Practitioner in Residence
Monalisa is a practitioner in residence at the Institute for Social Concerns. She is passionate about using the law creatively, bringing novel approaches and making “human rights” a more diverse and equal space. Her work at the institute has been featured in Notre Dame Global’s “Women who inspire” series.
An international human rights lawyer, Monalisa has represented victims of human rights abuse in different parts of the world for over a decade. A strategic litigator and negotiator, she brings expertise on issues spanning war crimes, terrorism, gender based violence, child sexual abuse, human trafficking, and transparency in governance. She has addressed rights violations through negotiations and legal claims brought in multiple jurisdictions following extensive engagement with victims directly. She has worked with international tribunals, NGOs, academic institutions, and legal aid clinics in five countries.
Monalisa earned her LL.M. in international human rights at the University of Notre Dame Law School, graduating summa cum laude in 2018.
