Description

Our organization exists to serve and empower individuals experiencing homelessness by providing essential resources, compassionate support, and pathways toward stability and hope. We believe in meeting people where they are with dignity, respect, and faith-driven care. Offering access to basic needs, life-skills classes, and individualized case management. Our mission is to create a welcoming community where lives are transformed, barriers are broken, and every person has the opportunity to rebuild and thrive.

Student Role

Students serving at our site will play an active, relational role in supporting individuals experiencing homelessness through compassionate, hands-on engagement. Most of their time will be spent interacting directly with guests assisting with daily basic needs such as distributing food, hygiene items, and clothing, helping with check-ins for basic needs services or case management, and offering a listening ear and encouragement. Students may also participate in leading or assisting with group classes that focus on life skills, wellness, or personal development. In addition to these relational activities, students will spend limited time (approximately 810 hours per week) on supportive tasks such as organizing donations, light administrative work, and maintaining the resource areas to ensure an orderly and welcoming environment.

Work Schedule

6:30am-3:00pm (Mon-Thurs) 7am-11am(Fri) 9am-1pm (Sat)

Orientation

Before students begin their placement, we will schedule two virtual meetings to introduce them to our organizations mission, the population we serve, and the expectations of their role. These pre-arrival meetings will also allow students to ask questions, discuss their goals, and review any logistical details such as scheduling and dress code. Once on site, students will participate in an in-person orientation that includes a tour of the facility, introductions to staff, safety procedures, and hands-on training in key areas such as guest interaction, confidentiality, and trauma-informed care.
