Description
Our institute is the largest Tertiary referral centre with medical college attached. We get patients from more than 18 maternity homes and peripheral centers in western suburbs and other areas. Along with critically ill obstetrics cases, high-risk pregnancies and newborns requiring special care, we also offer subsidized maternity and newborn care to all, especially those who do not have health insurance. We also deal with gynaecological issues from infertility to cancer care. We have well established Family Welfare and Abortion Services with government funding.
Student Role
Each student shall be assigned indoor patients regularly and will be involved in their daily care under direct supervision. With help of interpreter, student shall counsel, help in implementing doctors advice and suggesting further treatment. For survivors of violence, the student will be part of the team looking after the medical, psychological and social concern. This may require help in interaction with police, NGOs and Child Welfare Committee (CWC). In addition students would be expected to assist in data collation and analysis for presentation and publication.
Work Schedule
Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm with option of on call observership from 4 pm to 10 pm twice a week.
Orientation
Group orientation with 4 junior doctors, 3 faculty members and head of department shall be done as suggested above.
