Description
Allies for Community Business believes that entrepreneurs from any background can start and grow businesses that create generational wealth for their families and communities. We provide the capital, coaching, and connections entrepreneurs need to grow great businesses that create jobs and wealth in their communities. By primarily serving Black, Hispanic/Latinx, women, and low-income entrepreneurs throughout the Chicagoland area and beyond, we create opportunities in areas that need it most.
Student Role
Because we want to offer meaningful opportunities to make a difference, Allies for Community Business (A4CB) will work with each student to define specific goals and the scope of the project(s) on which the student will focus their time at A4CB. Students can expect to interact directly with entrepreneurs, assist at A4CB events, support our microlending and/or coaching process, work with various A4CB teams to analyze data and outcomes, and take on a variety of other tasks.
Work Schedule
9 AM until 5 PM; Monday through Friday, in the office
Orientation
A4CB will provide the training and supervision the student needs to thrive at the organization, but the details will depend on the specific goals and project(s) on which the student will focus their time. Students will engage in discussions with various members of A4CB staff prior to joining the organization for the summer in order to better understand our mission, vision, and day to day work. Students will also have an opportunity to learn more about other departments at A4CB if they are interested and will have regular check-ins with dedicated staff to ensure they have the support needed to thrive.
Housing Information
A4CB will not be providing housing accommodations.
