KIPP Chicago

KIPP Chicago is a network of high-performing public charter schools offering a college preparatory education to students from Chicago’s most underserved communities. We are part of the nationally renowned Knowledge is Power Program, which was founded by two Teach for America alumni in 1994. Our mission is to create a network of schools that empower students with the character and academic skills necessary to succeed in top-quality high schools and universities, to be happy in the competitive world, and to have a positive impact on their communities.

Laughlin Memorial Chapel

The Freedom Schools program is a partnership with the Children's Defense Fund. This is an educational and cultural enrichment program for children in grades K-12. The SSLP student attends a week of comprehensive training with all Freedom Schools interns from around the country. Using an Integrated Reading Curriculum, the interns serve as facilitators in the classroom and as leaders of parent workshops and community outreach activities.


De LaSalle Middle School

La Salle Middle, formerly De La Salle Middle, is committed to transforming children and our community through innovative education. The goal is to prepare students of all races and backgrounds for admission to college prep High School. The student tutors and mentors the students- acting as a positive role model, teaches classes, and works on various projects with the students.


Cristo Rey High School

Cristo Rey Kansas City provides a Catholic, college prep education enhanced by an innovative corporate work study program to culturally diverse students with economic need. The SSLP student provides one-on-one or small group tutoring and assists with the new student training. Also, the student helps with background office work to ready students for employment.


Corazon a Corazon

Corazon a Corazon is a community outreach center that works mainly with Hispanic women and children in a supportive one-on-one environment to assist them with ESL, reading, math, and preparation for the GED. The center works to empower women and foster emotional well-being in their students while helping them learn basic language and literary skills. Students teach one-on-one English-as-a-Second-Language courses to Spanish-speaking adults. Also, for four weeks, they teach reading and math to children in a summer program.

El Centrito Family Learning Centers

El Centrito Family Learning Centers is a nonprofit that promotes the educational success of Ventura County’s children, youth & families by providing high-quality, multicultural programs, including: early childhood education, summer and after school enrichment, and parent leadership opportunities. The agency addresses participants’ educational needs in a bilingual community setting and provides an environment that nurtures relationships and builds trust and confidence.

Bridge Project

The Bridge Project helps children living in Denver’s public housing neighborhoods to achieve their academic potential and graduate from high school with the resources necessary to succeed as adults. The 8-week Summer Program focuses on Literacy, STEM, Health & Wellness and Social Development through activities, classes/groups, and field trips for the participants. The SSLP student’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching/facilitating classes, building meaningful relationships with youth and staff, and organizing activities and events.
