McGivney Community Center

The McGivney Community Center is a non-profit organization founded in 1992. We are dedicated to offering quality programs and services to families residing in Bridgeport East Side and beyond. We are committed to providing children with a safe, supervised enviroment which supports academic support along with various recreational opportunities.

The goal of our summer camp program is to make each camper's summer a safe and enjoyable experience. Campers will learn to be considerate of others, play fairly and cooperate within a group.

St. Peter Claver Catholic Church - Summer Camp

Two SSLP students will assist with our 6 week Summer Camp Program for students in PreK through 6th grade. In addition, the students will help with our Youth Ministry work with High School and Junior High Programs on Wednesday and other evenings. Students will participate in parish activities in the evenings and weekends and will also be exposed to community organizing.

For the remaining two weeks of the SSLP, students will assist with community organizing and other parish based efforts. This is a unique and amazing community to be a part of for a summer!

Salvation Army - North Corps Community Center

The SSLP intern will be a part of the annual 8-week Summer Day Camp conducted within our Center, for about 45 - 50 kids, ages 4 to 13 years old. This is an extremely positive and hands-on Program that aims to serve the under-privileged youth in the community and provide an exciting, rewarding, and safe environment during the summer months out of school. A schedule is followed each week that includes field trips and special opportunities all around Omaha, down time and activites at the Center, and meals.

St. Ignatius School

The SSLP will take place both at the school in the Bronx in a neighborhood called Hunts Point, as well as at a boys' or girls' camp in Lake Placid, NY. The first five weeks will be spent at the school teaching in specific classes for specific students who are deficient. The remaining three weeks will be spent with the students and faculty at a leadership program at a campground in Lake Placid.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Iowa

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa (BGCCI) operates 4 sites in Des Moines to help youth from elementary through high school by fulfilling our mission...to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

Camp Hidden Valley (Boys and Girls Club of Harford and Cecil Counties)

Camp Hidden Valley is operated by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Harford County and both share a mission statement: to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. Located on Deer Creek in White Hall, MD, Camp Hidden Valley offers a traditional, unplugged, outdoor camp experience. Our unique program provides an educational recreation experience that fosters socialization skills and minimizes summer learning loss in a natural environment.

Cardinal Shehan Center

The mission of the Cardinal Shehan Center is enriching lives through learning. We serve the educational, recreational, cultural, and social needs of the Greater Bridgeport area's children and families. This is accomplished by offering an After School and Saturday Youth Development Program, Summer Day Camp, Vacation Holiday Weeks, various basketball and softball leagues, and physical education classes to local grammar schools and alternative education programs.

BeHive

The Behive is an after-school program that provides a safe haven and academic support to low-income children while encouraging them to become exemplary citizens. The Behive applies methods normally reserved for children labeled “gifted” to children who have been labeled as “at-risk” learners. The SSLP student serves as an assistant program leader, helping the staff create, plan, and implement summer activities.
