Downtown Rescue Mission

We are a non-profit Christian ministry that serves homeless and poor men, women and children throughout Northern Alabama and Southern Tennessee. Our services include: three daily meals, free clothing, free lodging, bathrooms and showers, laundry services, case management, addiction recovery programs, Chapel services and Bible studies, birthday parties and baby showers, tutoring, holiday events and banquets, community outreach and youth sports. SSLP students are invited to get involved in a variety of these activities, according to the interests and gifts of the student.

St. Vincent dePaul of Detroit - Camp Ozanam

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) offers a five week summer camp program for boys and girls at Camp Ozanam (or as we all know it at camp "OZ"). As a Special Works of the Society, Camp Ozanam offers families in need, served by our brothers and sisters of SVdP throughout the year, the opportunity to send their child to camp to experience all that a traditional camp has to offer.

At Camp Ozanam, children will develop a sense of community and environmental awareness where they can pray, ponder and play.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Iowa

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa (BGCCI) operates 4 sites in Des Moines to help youth from elementary through high school by fulfilling our inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

Southwest Detroit Vicariate

The Southwest Detroit Vicariate sites works with a variety of ministries in the community. St. Stephen/Mary Mother of the Church is a Catholic parish in Southwest Detroit, serving a Latino population with many young children. 90% of the community is Spanish speaking. The 3 SSLP students help run summer programs, tutor and coach a soccer team for children from this parish. Loaves and Fishes of Southwest Detroit is a food pantry serving several sections of the Southwest Detroit neighborhood where the students also assist.

Hope Ministries

Hope Ministries is a faith-based emergency shelter/transitional housing program for men and a transitional housing program for women and families. Hope focuses on creating a grace-based environment that relies less on rules and regulations and more on relationships and personal accountability to foster personal growth and change. Two SSLP students live on site together and help with summer programming for the children who live on site, along with other opportunities working with adults.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Alabama

At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Alabama, the student will help plan outings and activities for bigs and littles, attend outings and activities with bigs and littles, help to plan and to staff fundraisers and attend activities for "littles in waiting.”

Student Responsibilities:

COA Youth & Family Centers, Camp Helen Brachman

The mission of COA Youth & Family Centers is to help Milwaukee children, teens, and families reach their greatest potential through a continuum of educational, recreational, and social work programs offered through its urban community centers and rural camp facility. As a multicultural agency, COA values diversity and cooperation, and promotes growth and positive social interaction.

Nativity Jesuit Academy - Camp Thunderhead

Nativity Jesuit Academy is a K4-8 co-ed Catholic, Jesuit, urban school serving predominately Latino young men and women. We prepare our students, in partnership with their families, for Christian leadership and service in high school, college, and life. Through our year round school year (summer programming includes summer camp for middle school students) Nativity Jesuit strives to form leaders who exhibit the 5 core values of: being religious, being loving, seeking intellectual excellence, committed to justice, and open to growth.

Camp Hidden Valley (Boys and Girls Club of Harford and Cecil Counties)

Camp Hidden Valley is operated by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Harford County and both share a mission statement: to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. Located on Deer Creek in White Hall, MD, Camp Hidden Valley offers a traditional, unplugged, outdoor camp experience. Our unique program provides an educational recreation experience that fosters socialization skills and minimizes summer learning loss in a natural environment.

Colorado Springs Teen Court

Colorado Springs Teen Court is an alternative sentencing program for first time misdemeanor juvenile offenders between the ages of 10 and 18. The mission of Teen Court is to empower our youth through Restorative Justice for a brighter future. Teen Court see between 300-400 cases a year and relies almost entirely on a corps of volunteers and community support to sustain the program.
