Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of all children through excellence in patient care, teaching, and research.

Student Responsibilities:
MAIN HOSPITAL/CHILD LIFE DEPARTMENT: Under the supervision of the Child Life Specialist/Assistant, facilitates play and activities with children in activity centers and at patient's bedside.

Sheltering Arms Early Care and Education Family Centers

Sheltering Arms, one of the largest non-profit organizations in Georgia, is a renowned, well-established and highly-respected non-profit organization, which operates 16 Early Care and Family Centers in the greater Atlanta area, provides affordable child care and education each day to 2500 children six weeks to 5 years of age of low income families.

Camp Fiver

The Fiver Children's Foundation is a comprehensive youth development organization that empowers children from underserved communities to develop life skills and to reach their full potential. Fiver's 10 year commitment to each child includes year-round mentoring and counseling programs, a character building residential summer camp, and partnerships with schools and community based organizations. The SSLP student will serve at the summer camp, Camp Fiver.

Tree Street Youth

In July 2011, Tree Street Youth Center opened to meet the challenge of providing low-income youth the opportunity to learn and grow in a nurturing environment. Located in the heart of downtown Lewiston at 144 Howe Street, it serves as a vibrant hub of daily youth-driven activity for 120-150 students in grades K-12 and is the only center solely focused on meeting the educational and social needs of at-risk youth. The Center is strategically located directly across from the Governor Longley Elementary School and on the walk route to both Lewiston Middle and High Schools.

Saint Gianna's Maternity Home

Saint Gianna's is a pro life, Catholic home of formation for pregnant women and their children. Located in the small village of Warsaw, ND, one half hour north of Grand Forks, ND. We live as a family with the residents and are looking for students interested in joining our family for the summer. For more information see our website:

The Children’s Place

The Children’s Place, founded in 1978, is a non-profit agency that helps heal the youngest survivors of abuse, neglect and trauma. The Day Treatment Services program serves children, six years and younger, who have been abused or neglected and provides them with an early childhood education; including intensive treatment combined with expert, evidence-based therapy services and interventions.

West Side Catholic Center - Family Engagement Department

Agency Mission: Grounded in faith, hope, love and respect for those we serve, we assist all who come in need of food, clothing, shelter, advocacy and a path to self-sufficiency. The Family Shelter provides emergency/transitional housing. The SSLP student can assist with any and all of our programs, primarily working with the children, youth and family services and programs. Student may also engage with the West Side Catholic Center across the street.

Camp Tecumseh

Camp Tecumseh- a sleep-away camp that is unmatched anywhere. Evening cabin devotions and morning chapel help set the tone for a culture that lives caring Christian principles in everyday camp life. Boys and girls ages 8 through 15 return year after year to what many of them say is ‘the best place in the world’.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City provides a fun, safe environment for kids to learn, play, grow and meet new friends. From sports to education and group activities, the Clubs provide quality programs to thousands of area kids every day; the kids who may otherwise lack the resources for such opportunities. The number of children left home alone with no adult supervision has only increased over the past 10 years. That’s why the Clubs are open before and after school, snow days and some holidays, providing a positive outlet for kids during their free time.

Clark Park - Holy Redeemer Grade School - Manna Meal

Surrounded by historic homes, schools, busy shops, and local services, Clark Park is 30 acres of landscaped and playscaped green space in the heart of Mexicantown in southwest Detroit. For years, the park has been the cornerstone and town square of the neighborhood. It provides a safe haven for everyone -- a place where kids, families, and seniors unwind, explore, and participate in many different activities, including team sports. It remains the community's anchor, providing four seasons of programming for thousands of young people.
