Cabbage Patch Settlement House, Inc. & Nativity Academy at St. Boniface

The Cabbage Patch Settlement House, Inc. (“The Patch”) is a non-profit, Christian organization that exists to empower families and children to be self-sufficient by helping them maximize their spiritual, social, emotional, physical, moral, economic and educational potential. It is a grassroots program. This is our 108th year of serving the Louisville area's at risk children and their families.

Grandville Avenue Arts and Humanities

Grandville Avenue Arts & Humanities (GAAH) is a neighborhood organization that runs two centers: the Cook Library Center and the Cook Arts Center. These two vibrant neighborhood hubs are always bustling with children after school and during summer camps, and operate almost in sight of shiny downtown buildings. They are nestled, however, among two-story houses and local businesses in a predominantly Hispanic and African American neighborhood. Many students are bilingual in Spanish and English.

Hope Ministries

Hope Ministries is a faith-based emergency shelter/transitional housing program for men and a transitional housing program for women and families. Hope focuses on creating a grace-based environment that relies less on rules and regulations and more on relationships and personal accountability to foster personal growth and change. Two SSLP students live on site together and help with summer programming for the children who live on site, along with other opportunities working with adults.

Edmundite Missions

An 84-year old leader in civil rights and poverty alleviation in the Deep South, Edmundite Missions is the largest provider of social and hunger services in Selma, Alabama and three surrounding rural communties. It has expanded its mission to combine services with a drive toward developing solutions of poverty that enable self-reliance of individuals and families. Our mission is to be a proactive Catholic agent of social change that generates a vibrant community and a thriving economoy through impactful programming, dynamic staff and visionary leadership.

Nativity Jesuit Academy - Camp Thunderhead

Nativity Jesuit Academy is a K4-8 co-ed Catholic, Jesuit, urban school serving predominately Latino young men and women. We prepare our students, in partnership with their families, for Christian leadership and service in high school, college, and life. Through our year round school year (summer programming includes summer camp for middle school students) Nativity Jesuit strives to form leaders who exhibit the 5 core values of: being religious, being loving, seeking intellectual excellence, committed to justice, and open to growth.

Colorado Springs Teen Court

Colorado Springs Teen Court is an alternative sentencing program for first time misdemeanor juvenile offenders between the ages of 10 and 18. The mission of Teen Court is to empower our youth through Restorative Justice for a brighter future. Teen Court see between 300-400 cases a year and relies almost entirely on a corps of volunteers and community support to sustain the program.

Fresh Air Home

This Christian camp is for children who could not otherwise afford to go to camp or who are needy in some way or another. Children range from 4 to 11 years of age. We serve 90 new children every two weeks. The student will supervise the students for arts and crafts, beach activities, Bible school, field trips, and cookouts. They rotate duties with laundry, kitchen and camp cleaning. Twenty to twenty-five counselors work in a team and develop close community together, taking turns leading different activities and chores.

Catholic Charities of San Antonio

The Refugee Resettlement Services Dept. receives funding from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Refugee Services of Texas and other funding sources to distribute federal resettlement funds, to newly arriving refugees from all over the world. This department provides professional staff assistance to individuals and families entering the United States as refugees. Specifically, the student will assist staff in working with refugee youth and their families in the Refugee School Impact program and in the Refugee Social Services-Adult Education program.

Cardinal Shehan Center

The mission of the Cardinal Shehan Center is enriching lives through learning. We serve the educational, recreational, cultural, and social needs of the Greater Bridgeport area's children and families. This is accomplished by offering an After School and Saturday Youth Development Program, Summer Day Camp, Vacation Holiday Weeks, various basketball and softball leagues, and physical education classes to local grammar schools and alternative education programs.

Oakland Elizabeth House

Oakland Elizabeth House is a long-term transitional housing program for single women and women with children who have experienced homelessness, violence, poverty and addiction. Our mission is to support women and children in their journey to healthy independence. We offer supportive services to the women and children of Elizabeth House to help in their transition to self-sufficiency. The SSLP student will participate in the programs provided, including reading club, summer camp and field trips and will assist other staff with administrative and facility related tasks.
