Boys and Girls Club - San Diego

The Boys & Girls Club offers a summer day camp for children ages 6 to 12 and a drop-in center for 6 to 17 year-olds in the afternoon. A variety of activities are offered including sports, computer use, art projects, social recreation, and community service. The SSLP student works as a mentor at the Club and is responsible for leading educational, recreational, and athletic activities for the children.

Midcoast Community Alliance

Midcoast Community Alliance began as a grass-roots community coalition in July 2016 after several youth suicide losses in the Bath community. Within just a few months, it grew from 4 members to over 30 organizations and, after careful consideration, became a 501c3 in July 2018.

Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County

The Boys & Girls Club of St. Joseph County has three primary locations in South Bend and additional sites in Mishawaka. All sites follow a standardized curriculum of summer activity steeped in educational enrichment through arts/games/health & fitness/sports & recreation/literacy and various camps & field excursions. The student is trained and asked to help plan and facilitate activities for summer programming.

City Gospel Mission

City Gospel Mission exists to serve and minister to the poor and to break the cycle of poverty and despair one life at a time. We do this through the following four cause areas: 1) homeless services, 2) addiction recovery, 3) job readiness and placement, and 4) youth development. We serve over 7000 adults and over 3,500 at-risk youth each year. Please visit our website to learn more about our different ministries at:

Trinita runs the Family Life Development Program each Summer, designed as a faith-based summer camp for families who greatly need a break from the intensity of inner-city life. The program goals are to strengthen faith and family life. Along with the Trinita staff and sisters, volunteers are essential to every aspect of the program's implementation. SSLP students arrive early (Tuesday, June 8) before the mandatory Orientation Week for all other new volunteers which begins on Sunday, June 13. The first group of Families arrive on June 20 for a week-long stay.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Dorchester

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester works with young people from diverse circumstances, providing opportunities for personal growth. The summer programs are designed to enable children to experience an array of activities such as art, education, music, field trips, STEM, and athletics. Typically, the student serves as an assistant in planning and running the day camp, which serves up to 250 kids aged 5-12. We have had to shift our programming plans due to the ongoing pandemic, but we will be operating in-person programming this summer.

Kids' Food Basket

For over seventeen years, Kids' Food Basket has been a force for attacking childhood hunger to help young people learn and live well. One in four Michigan children struggles with hunger, robbing them of their energy, health, and dignity. Our promise is to nourish kids bodies and minds, grow sustainable food, learn from hands-on experiences and engage as a diverse community to solve childhood hunger. A lack of consistent, nutritious food limits cognitive development, leaving kids unable to concentrate in school.

Missionaries of Charity

The Gift of Mary Shelter is run by the Missionaries of Charity who were founded by Mother Teresa. The sisters operate a homeless shelter, conduct neighborhood outreach, and offer a summer camp for kids. As a “housemother” for the shelter, the student cooks breakfast, cleans the house with the sisters, and takes care of challenges that arise. At the summer camp, the student is a sports leader, helps lead songs and games, and assists in the general organization of the camp.

Mercy Center

Mercy Center is a comprehensive community center that has been serving women and their families in the Mott Haven section of the South Bronx, NY for 30 years. We address the needs of the whole person, developing skills for healthy family living and economic advancement and building a community of respect, hospitality and non-violence. Mercy Center provides a range of programs and services to our participants, most of whom are immigrants and almost two-thirds of whom survive on annual household incomes of less than $20,000.
