Guadalupe Center

The mission of the Guadalupe Center is to break the cycle of poverty through education for the children of Immokalee.

UCP of Central Florida

United Cerebral Palsey (UCP) of Central Florida was originally formed in 1955 to serve young children with cerebral palsy. Since then we have evolved to serve children with a variety of disabilities in a SET (Support, Education and Therapy) services. Our education programs are inclusive - serving children with and without disabilities. The SSLP student is able to work with our services, in summer program classrooms, which include day care for pre-k and below children with and without disabilities, voluntary pre-kindergarden program, and summer camp for our elementary students.

Green River PACT

PACT is located in the rural desert town of Green River, Utah. In this town of 950, PACT provides a variety of social services, operating the Pyramid Youth Programs afterschool and summer programs, Green River Thrift Store, Oasis Food Programs, a community garden, and the Cottonwoods on the Green affordable apartments. We believe that Green River residents deserve the same access to resources and quality programs that affluent suburbs and the strong network of urban nonprofits provide their citizens.

Grandville Avenue Arts and Humanities

Grandville Avenue Arts & Humanities (GAAH) is a neighborhood organization that runs two centers: the Cook Library Center and the Cook Arts Center. These two vibrant neighborhood hubs are always bustling with children after school and during summer camps, and operate almost in sight of shiny downtown buildings. They are nestled, however, among two-story houses and local businesses in a predominantly Hispanic and African American neighborhood. Many students are bilingual in Spanish and English.

ACE PATH Middle School Summer Educational Equity Program

St. John the Evangelist and Santa Cruz provide a Catholic education of the highest quality to as many children as possible in under-served and predominantly Latino communities. Notre Dame's ACE PATH program emphasizes continuous improvement to achieve the school-wide goal of College and Heaven by providing middle school students with the opportunity to enroll in a summer program in addition to the college persistence counseling students and graduates receive during the year.

Nazareth Farm

Nazareth Farm is a community of volunteers inspired by the Gospels and Catholic Social Teaching focused on prayer, community, simplicity, and service. We are devoted to developing relationships and addressing sub-standard housing by providing home repair in rural West Virginia. SSLP students are asked to participate in leading service retreats, staff meetings, assist with & lead Farm chores, and coordinate work sites as assigned and help maintain and repair buildings and farm grounds.

Project Renewal

Project Renewal serves children in grades K-12, located in the inner-city of Davenport, IA. The organization owns and maintains two houses and a neighborhood park. Project Renewal's after-school and summer youth programs provide educational, recreational, and social-emotional support and resources. For many children, struggling with everyday issues, Project Renewal is one of the few anchors in their lives. Staff and volunteers are positive role models for the children, reinforcing values needed in order to live healthy and productive lives.

Good Shepherd Shelter (Los Angeles)

The Good Shepherd Shelter is a long-term treatment and education-oriented shelter for mothers and their children who have been victims of domestic violence. Good Shepherd Shelter’s mission is to stop the generational cycle of domestic violence by providing individualized, comprehensive services and shelter to battered women and their children and by raising the level of community awareness through advocacy and education. The SSLP student acts as summer camp counselor for our children's summer program, which is located 7 miles from downtown Los Angeles.

East Tenth United Methodist Children and Youth Center

East Tenth United Methodist Children and Youth Center's Mission is to provide a safe place where the spiritual, emotional, educational, and physical needs of children, youth, and their families are responded to in a holistic approach. We believe that all children deserve quality care and education regardless of socioeconomic status or a family's ability to pay. We provide all day child care for children 6 weeks old to 5 years old and programming for school-age children before and after school and during breaks and Intersessions.

Camp Scully

Camp Scully runs a series of one week overnight camps for economically disadvantaged children sponsored by Catholic Charities. New campers arrive each week and participate in activities including outdoor education, canoeing, swimming, archery, a ropes course, and sports. The SSLP student serves as a camp counselor for a cabin group providing direct care and supervision 22 hours a day, participating in all the camps’ activities, keeping the campers active and having fun!
