Hayden Kirwan is a postbaccalaureate research fellow at the Institute for Social Concerns. He will work in the space of mass incarceration and reentry in the South Bend community, while engaging in research in the service of justice. In addition to working with local prison and nonprofit agencies, he will conduct supervised research and develop evidence-based programming to support returning citizens.

While an undergraduate at Notre Dame, Hayden served as a just wage research fellow for the institute’s Just Wage Research Lab. He also worked as a summer labor fellow at the US Department of Labor’s Bureau of International Labor Affairs and participated in the Inside-Out program at Westville Correctional Facility.

Hayden graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2025 with a degree in history and minors in education, schooling, and society and poverty studies.
