Local Volunteer Opportunities

Partnering with community organizations is a key part of the Notre Dame commitment to justice and the common good. The Center for Social Concerns supports a variety of opportunities for students, staff, and faculty to work with groups in South Bend and beyond. This page provides information on opportunities for individuals to partner with organizations independently. The Center invites you to review the information listed below and consider communicating directly with the listed groups. Please note that this page is updated weekly.

Behavioral Support Volunteer

LOGAN Center
Children/Youth/Teen Programs

Volunteers will be trained and supported by Board Certified Behavior Analysts to support select students in the STRIVE after school program, which serves students in the elementary school age group. The STRIVE after school program is run by the Boys & Girls Club while supplemental behavioral supports are provided through a community partnership with LOGAN’s Autism Services team.

Responsibilities will include building a rapport with students and implementing an individualized behavior plan. Volunteers will be paired in teams of a minimum of two to work at their assigned school site.

A half-day of training will be required on site at The Boys and Girls Club and ongoing collaboration and support for volunteers will be provided by BCBAs. Volunteers are asked to commit to two hours weekly. After school program hours are Monday-Friday 2:30-6:00 PM.

Because we are working with a population of youth who are not eligible for vaccination yet, all participants, staff, and volunteers are required to wear a mask at all times during programming.
