Geddes Hall, McNeill Library

Serious Challenges, Authentic Encounters

See how Catholic social tradition invites us to respond to the changing demands of justice through rigorous engagement and encounter with local communities with Social Concerns Seminars. Seminars are academic courses that create opportunities for students to engage in social analysis, encounter community partners around the country, and reflect on their experience and its impact on individuals and communities. Most seminars include an immersion component which takes place during fall or spring break and require students to travel to different locations to address social concerns topics in context. The application deadline for spring 2022 is January 12, 2022. Learn more and apply on the seminars webpage.

Spring courses: Living with Mental Illness, Border Issues: Mexico-U.S. Border Immersion, Sports and Social Change, Act Justly: Racial Justice in America, Solidarity and the City (formerly Urban Plunge), Educational Equity, L'Arche Community Seminar, Migrant Experiences Seminar, Take Ten Seminar

Information Sessions: December 7 and 8, 2021; January 10, 11, and 12, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. in the McNeill Library at Geddes Hall
