Information Session: CGI Jerusalem 2020

Friday, November 1, 2019 - 11:00am to 11:45am

SPRING 2020

CGI—JERUSALEM: Interreligious Dialogue toward the Common Good in the Holy Land

Two credits | Interdisciplinary | Fully funded*

CGI-Jerusalem enables students to engage with Israelis and Palestinians over joint efforts to foster an adoption of the common good—a foundational principle of the Catholic social tradition—as a principal means to address the distrust and enmity that plague the Holy Land. The goal of the course is to appreciate how the pursuit of peace must be predicated on shared practices of the common good, especially as it functions in different religious traditions and in the different societies that constitute the Holy Land. The course includes an immersion over spring break (March 6-14, 2020), during which time students meet with diverse groups, including NGOs and Church-based ministries in the Holy Land. The course includes pre-departure sessions with introductions to the histories, religions, literatures, and cultures of the people at the center of the conflicts. Course Number: CSC 60697
