Stories of Courage

Interested in sharing a story of courage in challenging times? Apply below for the chance to share your story and to win $100!

The 2025–26 Genesis cohort at the Institute for Social Concerns invites the Notre Dame community to Stories of Courage, a live, student-led storytelling event about the courage to act: the ability to do what is right, just, and fair, even when it is scary, unpopular, and challenging. The event will showcase student stories of challenge, inspiration, humanity, perseverance, and transformation, cultivating in others the same capacity to do what is right, just, and fair.

If you are an undergraduate student interested in sharing a Story of Courage, please see the application information below and consider applying by Friday, February 27. All are welcome to join us on Tuesday, April 14, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Andrews Auditorium in Geddes Hall to hear six student Stories of Courage, followed by a festive reception in the McNeill Gallery.

Application Information

Stories of Courage seeks to spotlight the courage to act through a storytelling format. Applicant stories can be inspired by a variety of people and situations—from real-world heroes to people you have encountered at Notre Dame and beyond. The full guidelines for submission and criteria for selection are included in the application form. The selected student storytellers will receive $100 each.
