COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

STUDENT COUNSELING
Career Analysis Organization is a South Bend non-profit that provides vocational counseling for students.  We need volunteers to help us with marketing, sales and social media.  To find out more about these opportunities please contact Ellona Yoder at yodere@careeranalysis.org. or 574-370-1473

TUTORING
The Center for Social Concerns is looking for Notre Dame students willing to volunteer 1–2 hours per week to tutor students in the South Bend area. Students in need of tutoring range in age K-12 and subject needs vary between different levels of math, science, and language arts/english. Parents are required to bring their child to campus for the tutoring. The weekly date/time of the tutoring session is determined between the parent and ND student. All tutors are matched based on age and subject preferences. If interested, please contact Jade Martinez at cscvols.nd.edu.

The Greater Holy Temple Church is in need of volunteer tutors for an after-school tutoring program for kids in the South Bend Community in 1st–12th grades. The program runs from 5:30–8:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and is held at their church, which is located only five minutes (walking) from campus. The tutoring program helps students with reading, math, science, English, and Spanish. If you are interested in tutoring, please contact Starla Ross at 574-631-0953 or at Starla.Ross.72@nd.edu.

HOSPICE
AseraCare Hospice is looking for new volunteers for their patients or to work on special projects. Typical volunteer hours are about 8–10 per month and the schedule is very flexible. Volunteers can visit patients in nearby facilities or homes whenever they are available to go. Typical visits last about an hour each and consist of spending time and sharing companionship, playing a game, taking the patients outside, sitting with them at a meal, watching tv etc. The requirements consist of a background check, drug screen, and online training along, with some other documents. Please contact Shannon Kelley at 574-206-1875.
