Program Director

As Justice Education Program Director, Emily Garvey works primarily with summer immersive experiences like NDBridge and CSC Summer Fellowships. The programs offer undergraduate students the opportunity to work with marginalized communities around the world, to examine how systemic injustice is perpetuated, and to consider their responsibility to address it. Emily holds a B.A. in Philosophy and English Literature from Saint Mary’s College, and a M.A. in Systematic Theology from the University Notre Dame. Prior to coming to the Center for Social Concerns in 2009, Emily worked with agencies in Northern Indiana that served people on the periphery. Emily’s work is animated by the juxtaposition of Catholic social tradition theory and praxis. She and her husband Jeff call South Bend home, and are parents to four amazing children.
