Breaking Free

Site Description: Breaking Free empowers survivors of sex trafficking and prostitution to build new lives through safe housing, direct services, effective healing programs, survivor advocacy, worldwide policy change, and hope. Breaking Free is currently the only survivor-led provider of housing services to victims of sex trafficking and their children in Minnesota. We provide a week-day Drop-In Center and permanent supportive housing for 34 family units. Breaking Free has a Campus located at 770, 774, 778 University Avenue West in St. Paul, MN. The campus includes our Women's Program, including a Drop-In Center, an Emergency Shelter for sexually exploited women and girls and an Admin Center. We also have two 18-unit apartment buildings for permanent supportive housing. In addition, we have 14 scattered-site units through Section 8 and Hearth Connection. Student Responsibilities:
Student Intern duties would include:
1) Assistance with coordinating Adult Education for our clients.
2) Coordinate distance learning skills 3.
3) Shadow the Women's Program Manager and assist with creating a Procedure Manual thereby learning how to provide direct services to our sexually exploited individuals.
4) Participate in events that the organization sponsors such as an annual Summer BBQ, National Night Out and other events.
