Site Description: The Boys & Girls Club of St. Joseph County has 23 locations across South Bend, Mishawaka, Walkerton, and North Liberty. All sites follow a standardized curriculum of summer activity steeped in educational enrichment through arts/games/health & fitness/sports & recreation/literacy and various camps & field excursions. The student is trained and asked to help plan and facilitate activities for summer programming. Student Responsibilities:
Research, plan, & implement on and off site extraneous activities and experiences for Club Members, including field trips, excursions, sports camps, lessons.
Coordinate with administrative team and Club staff to receive community referrals, coordinate schedules, facilitate activities.
Coordinate with Club staff to facilitate permission slips, signups, parent notifications; ensure safe, smooth implementation of on- and off-site activities/trips.
Interact with community volunteers and organizations hosting BGC members for off-site activities, such as USTA tennis lessons, First Tee/PGA golf, ND/Saint Mary's/Bethel College/Holy Cross College sports camps, museums, other educational venues.
Work with Site Director and fellow staff to engage members in all program areas.
Implement the Club's guidance and discipline policies consistently and compassionately.
Produce deliverable/tangible outcome item, either presentation, paper, or event that encapsulates summer intern activity and showcases mutual benefit to intern and recipient Club kid(s)/families.
