Site Description:

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester works with young people from diverse circumstances, providing opportunities for personal growth. The summer programs are designed to enable children to experience an array of activities such as art, education, music, field trips, STEM, and athletics. Typically, the student serves as an assistant in planning and running the day camp, which serves up to 150 kids aged 5-12. We have had to shift our programming plans due to the ongoing pandemic, but we will be operating in-person programming this summer. The SSLP will assist in the planning and supervision of the program. The student works on everything from paperwork to playing four square with the children. Students should be very flexible, willing to go outside of their comfort zone and show initiative. Http://www.bgcdorchester.org/

Student Responsibilities:
The student will work closely with our VP of Programming to assist in running our summer program for 5-12 year old children. The first two weeks will be mostly administration work such as setting up schedules, assisting with registration and planning activities. The remaining time will be mostly hands on with the children. They will be running activities, leading a group, participating in field trips and stepping in when other staff calls out sick. There is a wide variety of responsibilities with much of the focus (after the first two weeks) being with direct interaction with the children.
