Site Description: The mission of the Atlanta Community Food Bank is to fight hunger by engaging, educating, and empowering our community. As one of the major regional food banks within the national Feeding America network, the Food Bank serves approx. 700 'front line' partner community-based organizations throughout 29 counties serving close to 750,000 people. Besides core food/grocery product distribution (60+ million meals annually), the Food Bank has number of other programs and initiatives that help us serve the community including but not limited to School Mobile Food Pantries, Hunger Education, Nutrition and Wellness Programming, Benefits Outreach, Advocacy, Youth Programs and our Stabilizing Lives Initiative. Student Responsibilities:
The student will have an opportunity to experience the broad range of services this major Feeding America-affiliated food bank provides throughout its 29 county service area. There will be a robust orientation which will include service activities providing indirect and direct (as much as Covid safety guidelines allow) support to the Food Bank and our partner agency network. A majority of the student's time will be spent providing support to the Food Bank's partner agencies in direct/indirect service to people in need within the community.
