HOSPITALITY TEAM Application
The Hospitality Team is the excellent corps of student assistants at the Institute for Social Concerns. This group is a vibrant and distinctive part of Geddes Hall, and an extension of the Institute’s sense that the way we do our work, in proximity to those we serve, should be remarkable—the How is the Wow!
Hospitality Team members will:
- Complete routine tasks to support the operation of the building.
- Perform administrative duties for the faculty.
- Drive the department golf cart for campus errands.
- Assist with the set up, execution, and teardown of Institute events.
- Promote an enjoyable atmosphere in the building through activities such as baking cookies and decorating for holidays.
- Engage with visitors to include greeting visitors and providing assistance as needed.
Keen attention to detail will be important, and timely and responsible work is required. Members of the Hospitality Team will be busy throughout their assigned shifts and should be self-starters interested in continuous improvement.
Preferred applicants will be familiar with, or have experience with, the Institute’s programs and demonstrate a strong interest in contributing to its mission. A valid driver’s license is also preferred.
Selected students will receive training in protocol and proactive hospitality, along with performance feedback each semester. They will typically be scheduled for approximately 4–8 hours per week, including weekday afternoons and evening shifts until the building closes. In addition to their regular schedules, team members will be expected to sign up for and staff additional on-call events throughout the year.
The position will span the 2026-2027 academic year, excluding breaks. Interviews will be scheduled and completed before the current semester ends. with shifts to start in September 2025. Starting pay is $15 per hour.
