First page:
Bulleted overview (2-3 sentences maximum per bullet)

Rationale/Literature Review: Explanation of problem or issue with supporting evidence and references to confirm the need for the study.

Research Design
Significance: How do you envision that your research will contribute, in the short run and over time, to the partner organization and the local community/broader issue? To the faculty member’s field? What will demonstrate that this success has been achieved, i.e., events, reports, presentations, articles, projects, etc.?
Budget and Brief Projected Timetable
As an appendix to the five-page proposal, please provide reference list, the contact information and brief CV’s of individuals participating in the partnership as identified on pg. 1. Elaborate on the role of each partner, if so desired. Although the names of student partners need not be included, please indicate the anticipated number of student collaborators (undergraduate and/ or graduate), the manner in which they will be selected, and their anticipated roles.
The proposal should be sent as an attachment by email (mbeckman@nd.edu). and a hard copy should be faxed (631-4171) or sent to Mary Beckman, Center for Social Concerns, University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, IN, 46556. Recipients will be announced at the annual Ganey Research Awards dinner on April 1, 2009.
*“Faculty” includes Teaching-and-Research Faculty, Research Faculty, Library Faculty, and Special Professional Faculty, as described in the Faculty Handbook. Faculty holding emeritus status may apply. The community partner should be an organization in the South Bend area or an individual or individuals affiliated with one.
