The Center for Social Concerns supports the academic community engagement of many individual faculty members across campus. Such support includes course development and research grants.
In 2013, the Center began a program to focus not only on individual faculty members, but also on entire programs, departments, centers, or institutes. This new Engaged Program Initiative (EPI) aims to encourage multi-year sustained, evolving, academic community engagement that is integrated throughout the work of an academic unit.
The Program of Design in the Department of Art, Art History, and Design became the first engaged program, with a formalized three-year commitment.
