Center for Social Concerns

Faith Communities

The Center continually looks for ways to partner with the various faith institutions in the community. For instance the Center initiated and coordinated a day long workshop, Let Justice Roll Down: Economics Where People Matter for the various congregations in Northern Indiana to reflect on how changes in the economy are affecting families, communities, and society.  The Center has been assisting a local congregation-based community organizing group, Transforming Action Through Power (TAP), in its outreach and justice education efforts.  Outreach to the Catholic community has occurred by collaborating with the Diocese of Fort Wayne/South Bend and its parishes to hold forums and workshops, such as Voices of Women of Afghanistan: Building Solidarity, where Catholic Relief Services workers presented in Elkhart County for the 4 parishes there.
