Community and Economic Development

The Center believes not only is the community an important learning environment, but that the University is called to be a good neighbor and assist in developing the community and economic capacity of the area. For instance the Center was a major sponsor of a community forum on economic development, Improving Our Quality of Life, at Indiana University-South Bend, bringing in national speakers to work with local government, labor, education and community leaders.  The Center remains involved with local community groups, like the Northeast Neighborhood Council and the Near Northwest Neighborhood Association, to provide consultation and assistance as issues like gentrification are confronted.
