The scholarship for each student participant is $2300. If Clubs are unable to raise the full amount, they can ask for assistance from the Andrews Scholarship Fund for $1200 for up to four students.
If your Club really wants to be involved, has a great site in mind and housing available for a student, but very limited funds, contact the SSLP Director to see what can be worked out.
Creative Ideas Currently in Clubs
Ask individual Club members to earmark their annual contributions to the University for your Club’s SSLP scholarship. They will get the credit for football tickets. We prefer that the contributions are sent to the Center for Social Concerns with a note of what Alumni club SSLP scholarship it should be credited to. We then forward the checks to the Development Office.
Some individual donors in Alumni Clubs sponsor a student with $1100 and ask for the balance from the Andrews Scholarship Fund, such as Bakersfield and Michigan – Upper Peninsula.
The New Mexico Club has a golf outing with corporate sponsors and participation that goes beyond the Notre Dame Club to raise funds for their 4 SSLP students.
The Boston Club designed and sold T-shirts that were not alumni club specific, i.e. “Boston Irish.”
The Starved Rock Club increased the funds from UND nights by partnering with local Catholic schools for a greater turnout.
Ask a local foundation to sponsor a student, as the Rochester Club and the Indianapolis Club have done.
