McDowell, McGraw Assume New Roles

CSC News & Reflections
Fall 2004

This fall, the Center said goodbye to two familiar faces on the staff: Carl Loesch and Colleen Knight Santoni. Replacing them will be CSC staffers Rosie McDowell and Angela Miller McGraw.

“Because of our extraordinary staff, we managed to reorganize existing staff to absorb the loss of these key employees,” said Fr. Bill Lies, executive director. “Like any great football team, we are blessed to have a deep bench.”

Loesch, who was director of Appalachia Seminar and Educational Immersions, accepted a position as principal of Marian High School in Mishawaka. Knight Santoni, former director of Student Outreach for Service and Social Action, moved to Texas with her family.

McDowell, who had previously worked primarily with the First Year Composition Program and assisted the Summer Service Project, assumed Knight Santoni’s position.

In this position, she oversees the Student Service and Social Action Groups and works with the Social Concerns commissioners and rectors from each residence hall.

She also collaborates with the staff of the University Writing Program and local agencies to provide service-learning opportunities for students in the First Year Composition-Community Based Learning courses each semester.

Finally, she collaborates with the Institute for Latino Studies to coordinate the Hispanic Leadership Internship Program, part of the Summer Service Project.

She earned her B.A. in French and Economics from Notre Dame in 1993 and is currently an M.S.A. degree candidate from Notre Dame.

In her new role, Miller McGraw directs the following seminars: Appalachia, Gullah, L’Arche, Migrant, Gospel of Life and Washington, D.C.

Miller McGraw has a B.A. from Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota and a M.A. in Religion from Yale University.

Julie Boser has joined the Center as a Senior Staff Assistant to assist the program directors with the one-credit seminars. She has in B.A. in Business Administration from Indiana State University.
