
Joyce Long is a Community-Based Research Associate (CBR) at the Center for Social Concerns. She helps form collaborative research partnerships between students, faculty, and community organizations that mutually benefit all participants. She is Notre Dame’s primary manager for the National CBR Networking Initiative, Learn and Serve America Grant. She also coordinates the Educational Collaborative Group, comprised of principals from the South Bend Community School Corporation and faculty from the University of Notre Dame and St. Mary’s College who combine resources to research local educational issues.
Joyce also teaches undergraduate courses in the Education, Schooling, and Society minor at Notre Dame. She completed her doctoral degree in Educational Psychology and Curriculum in the School of Educational Policy and Leadership at The Ohio State University. In addition to teaching various subjects in K-12 settings, she obtained her MEd in Family and Consumer Science Education at Berry College in Rome, GA and her undergraduate degree in Marketing at the University of Dayton. Joyce’s research interests include the development of subject matter interest, learning in urban schools, creativity, parental involvement, and the instructional methods of Jesus.
